Check This Out: Surreal Trailer for Now Apocalypse

I have to hand it to Starz for really digging into genre recently. They gave us the phenomenal Ash vs. Evil Dead and American Gods, on the more horror/fantastical side. And on the flip-side gave us the incredibly sexy, time traveling romantic drama Outlander.

So when I heard that they were going to do a show by Gregg Araki, who has given us incredibly weird, bonkers and poignant films filled with queer representation, I did a happy dance. It looks like a sexy, surreal trip through LA, with the possibility of an apocalypse lingering in the background.

And judging from the stills I’ve seen, he’s giving me just what I want:

An Official Selection of the 2019 Sundance Film Festival, “Now Apocalypse” is a half-hour series that centers on Ulysses (Avan Jogia) and his friends — Carly (Kelli Berglund), Ford (Beau Mirchoff) and Severine (Roxane Mesquida) — who are pursuing love, sex and fame. Between sexual and romantic dating-app adventures, Ulysses grows increasingly troubled as ominous premonitory dreams make him wonder if some kind of dark and monstrous conspiracy is going on — or if he is just smoking too much weed.

This provocative and surreal comedy series explores identity, sexuality and artistry while navigating the strange and oftentimes bewildering city of Los Angeles. It also features an alien lizard thing.

I’ll have a review of this show closer to the March 10th release on Starz. Until then, check out this surreal and colorful trailer:
