[News] Five Genre Festivals Join Forces to Present NIGHTSTREAM, A Virtual Film Festival
In response to the many challenges impacting the film community amid the Covid-19 pandemic, and the concerns of safety and security that presently come with physical exhibition and festivals, a collective online initiative is being launched by organizers of a number of American genre festivals for the upcoming fall season to offer a singular experience for U.S. audiences.
Together the Boston Underground Film Festival, Brooklyn Horror Film Festival, North Bend Film Festival, The Overlook Film Festival, and Popcorn Frights Film Festival are joining forces under the banner of NIGHTSTREAM to present a dynamic and accessible virtual festival, to run from Oct. 8-11.
Early Bird badges are on sale now and NIGHTSTREAM will offer two options for badges: a five film bundle and ten film package, priced at $55 and $90 respectively with each badge granting unlimited access to live events and panels.
Proceeds from all pass sales will be shared with all artists showcased, as well as charitable causes and struggling small businesses in each of our festival’s home cities, and with each of our organizations to recoup expenses from our canceled physical events, and help sustain us through these turbulent months so that we can all return to public gatherings when it is safe to do so.
NIGHTSTREAM will be geo-locked to the U.S. and hosted on Eventive, which offers enhanced security features including the same DRM technology used by Disney+, iTunes, and Netflix, and is trusted by leading distributors and studios including A24, Sony Pictures Classics, Starz, Showtime, and National Geographic. It will function on multiple internet browsers as well as Roku, Apple TV, Chromecast and other connective devices to ensure the most wide-reaching compatibility, as well as comfort for viewers.
The festival will feature a program showcasing a mix of international horror, fantasy, sci-fi, vanguard, and underground films that capture the distinct curatorial spirit of each festival. Highlighting imaginative, daring, and bold voices in cinema, NIGHTSTREAM will encompass the full scope of genre storytelling and provide an exciting home experience for film fans this Halloween season.
Expect a full slate of feature and short film programming along with unique live events, panels, conversations, masterclasses, and more, all tailored to each festival's unique flavor.

Additional Events This Month
Longtime fans may remember the throngs of fire-breathing masked crusaders, hailed by many hypnotized fest-goers as a "Satanic Marching Band", who changed the way we present live shows at Overlook. Now this 50-plus member group of mystics are re-inventing the concept of the drive-in in Denver, Colorado for three weekends this month, beginning Aug. 14th. If you're lucky enough to be nearby, don't miss out on this joyful sonic bath of post-apocalyptic unifying magic.

Missing spooky stories? Our friends at E3W Productions, creators of multiple fan-favorite immersive showcases at the last two Overlook Film Festivals, have adapted their series of long-form shows into an all new podcast series that debuted this month. Each episode of IN ANOTHER ROOM takes place in a different room of a notoriously haunted house, spanning its entire sordid history.
